On Thursday, December 5, 2024, the first interim presentation of the urban design project of the design course Matiçan—Transform for Resilience took place. This represents a decisive milestone in the ongoing semester. Following the intensive excursion to Pristina in November, the students further developed their projects in teams of two and presented their current status. The aim was to create initial conceptual ideas and strategic approaches for the potential transformation of the district. To make their ideas tangible, the groups created a wide range of expressive pictograms, collages, and other illustrations that communicated the essence of their concepts. These creative tools also served as a basis for discussions during the presentations.
A particular highlight of the interim review was the feedback provided by our guest, Muhamet Spahiu, whose expertise offered valuable suggestions for further development of the projects. Further discussions between the students also sparked new ideas and helped refine open questions. The presentations highlighted the potential of the work accomplished so far and provided clear guidance for the next steps in the project’s development. Armed with new insights and strengthened motivation, the teams continue to work on their concepts to establish sound foundations for the following design approach. The overarching goal remains unchanged: to develop innovative and sustainable solutions for transforming Matiçan—solutions that address local needs while responding to global challenges.
